Blears to answer Facebook questions

The Communities and Local Government Secretary and MP for Salford, Hazel Blears, goes under the young people’s spotlight at Parliament.

The interview is available to watch from Tuesday 13th November via the UK’s first political internet television channel – run by young people for young people at Westminster.

The interview is being organised by Catch21 Productions – an organisation set up by students at the University of Hull Politics Department to increase young people’s awareness of and participation in political issues through an innovating approach.

Catch21 is asking young people between the ages of 13 – 25 to submit a question to Ms. Blears either via their website at www.catch21.co.uk or by joining their Facebook group entitled ‘Catch21’ and posting one there.

The deadline is Sunday 11th November for submitting questions.

The Rt. Hon. Hazel Blears (Secretary of State) said: “'This is a great way of utilising social networking sites and embracing the internet revolution in order to help engage young people with politics.”

Daisy McAndrew (Chief Political Correspondent ITN and Patron of Catch21) said: “Innovative, informative and interactive, exactly what young people need so that they can become engaged with politics more effectively.”
